Brush 447

Brush 447 is our first out piece of apparatus on wildland, brush, and grass fires. The idea is to get Brush 447 on the road before the rest of our apparatus in hopes it can control a situation before it explodes. Brush 447 will also be registered with the Marion County Conflagration Task Force for fighting wildfires.

Brush 447 carries limited life support equipment along with an AED and tools for traffic control for motor vehicle accidents. Brush 447 has a 300 gallon poly water tank and a 15 gallon foam concentrate cell.

Brush 447 seats one officer and one apparatus operator.

Brush 447 came to us through the Federal Excess Property Program, which Drakes Crossing likes to take advantage of, having secured hose and medical supplies in the past. The truck came in good mechanical condition, but the body needs work. The Antennas were broke, held on by packing tape,
some of the scene lights were missing, and there was no communication equipment. The compartments were well used and dirty. The Bench seat was breaking down. There were tree branches in the bed next to the water tank. But it was repainted and rewired. There is a tool box crisscrossing the rear, filled with chainsaw fuel, wildland hand tools, and spare SCBA tanks.

But the thing that makes this truck a charmer: it was FREE. It is on loan until we say that we have no more use for it. So we fixed it up and make it a first rate brush truck! This is maximizing funding for a small fire district!
